For sizing, measure from collar to rump with your dog standing, do not include the tail. If you dog is on the plump size or has a lot of fur, you may need to go up a size if they are at the top of the chest size. To measure the chest start on the back and bring the measuring tape under the chest directly behind the front legs, that is usually largest portion of the chest (measure as though you are measuring for a bra). Then bring the tape around to the other side and back to the beginning.

If you do not have a cloth measuring tape you can use a string, ribbon, etc to measure then lay it on a yardstick. Cloth measuring tapes can be picked up at most grocery stores, drug stores, hobby stores and fabric stores. They cost $2 - $4
