Description

Round Rolled Leather Dog Collars

Fun colors!  Round dog collars, also called rolled collars, are particularly suited for dogs with long, hair, thick coats because the round shape will aid in the prevention of tangled and matted fur around the dog's neck. These classic collars look great on dogs with short fur, too!

More than 20 production steps go into the making of these beautifully handcrafted round collars. They begin by carefully selecting full grain bridle leather. They are formed and stitched and the edges are beveled and polished to create collars round shape. Made with bright nickel-plated hardware, die cast buckle, welded dee ring, and capped rivets.

These collars are a favorite of Dachshund owners because of their smooth interior edges, but any dog with long fur, say a Border Collie or Spaniel, or with a short, smooth coat, a Greyhound or Rottweiler, for example will also benefit from a Round Leather Collar.

Also favorite dog collar with groomers because they don’t mat the fur or cause “winging” around the collar.

Rolled collars for toy breeds and small to medium dogs (the 1/2″, 5/8″, and 1″ sizes) are constructed with a buckle-end style, while the collars for large dogs (1-1/4″ sizes) are made in the extended D-end pattern for extra strength. Assembly is completed with a bright nickel-plated buckle and dee ring with smooth capped rivets, making this a collar that wears well year after year after year.

If you are satisfied with the fit of your dog’s current collar, measure that collar from the center bar of the buckle to the farthest hole. • Please also take into account that each collar will have 2″ of adjustability. Given the example of a 14″ dog collar, a 14″ collar will adjust from 12″ to 14″.
  • If you don’t have a tape measure, your can measure your dog’s neck with a string then measure the string with a flat ruler.
  • A rule of thumb is to leave an allowance for two fingers to fit between the collar and the dog for a comfortable fit. The collar should not be so tight that it will cause discomfort or so loose that it slides over the dog’s head.

GLOSSARY OF TERMS
Buckle-End Collar: A Buckle-End Collar is a collar where the buckle is at the end of the collar’s strap.

Extended-Dee-Ring: An Extended-Dee-Ring pattern refers to those collars where the dee-ring is at the end of the collar’s strap.

Latigo Leather: The word Latigo refers to a type of leather that is tanned in a way that makes it especially soft and supple with use. It is the same leather used for accessories in the saddle-making trade, such as reins and cinches.

Bridle Leather: Our tan and black leather products are made of Bridle Leather. Bridle Leather is used to make many of our harnesses and collars because of its rich color and ability to withstand harsh conditions and still look great. It is strong, firm, and resists stretching. Bridle Leathers were developed to withstand the stresses and strains that a horse puts its bridle through.

Natural Vegetable Tanned Skirting Leather: Vegetable Tanning is a process where vegetable materials such as tree bark and other materials are used in the tanning process. The result is a piece of leather that is versatile enough to be used for a variety of applications. Natural Vegetable Tanned Skirting Leather, the leather used to make the best, hand-tooled saddles, pouches, and accessories, is the same leather used for our harnesses and as a base for our red, black, pink, blue, and yellow collars and Leashes.

Top Grain or Full Grain Leather: The Grain refers to the surface of the leather. Top Grain or Full Grain Leather is the portion of the hide that is the strongest. Because of this nature of the cut, you may see slight variations in the surface that add to the beauty and character of the piece.

  • Remember that puppies grow quickly, so it is important to check the tightness of your dog collars.
  • You should always be able to put two fingers between the dog and collar.
  • Inspect and replace a collar or a leash as soon as it shows signs of wear that threatens the integrity of the collar/leash.
