Choosing a bed for An OLDER DOG

Unfortunately the aging process isn't much different for dogs and like us, they too suffer with aches and pains. When exploring the different choices dog beds, always look for beds that offer a thick padding of at least 3". The thicker the padding the better. However, the standard Orthopedic Foam is not as dense as Memory Foam or Gel, therefore the Gel or Memory Foam beds do not need to be as thick. If a bed is too soft, it lacks the necessary support that arthritic dogs need. The bed should always provide even weight distribution.

Know What Type Of Bed You Need

• The size and weight of your dog.
• Does he suffer with Arthritis or Hip Dysplesia?
• Where will the bed be placed?
• Provide enough room for him to stretch out comfortably.
• Does he like to curl up?

• If your dog is incontinent, consider a waterproof bed or you can place piddle pads on his new bed.

• Standard orthopedic beds are generally made with a 3" egg crate. Although these beds are probably the lowest in price, the above two options will provide much better support and comfort for your old dog.
